Refer a patient
This page is for general practitioners, NDIS plan managers, support coordinators, and insurer case managers. It sets out who we are, what we treat, the funding pathways we accept, and how to refer. We see children and adults, Australia-wide.
Telehealth Psychology Australia is a telehealth-only practice working with clients across Australia. We accept referrals under Medicare Better Access, NDIS (self-managed and plan-managed), WorkCover Queensland, DVA, and on a private basis.

A telehealth psychology practice, Australia-wide
Telehealth Psychology Australia Pty Ltd (ACN 695 737 154, ABN 83 695 737 154) is a telehealth psychology practice. Services are delivered by psychologists holding general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia through AHPRA.
Both practitioners hold general registration with no area-of-practice endorsement, so the scope is generalist mental health, and there is no clinical-area fee tier.
Sessions are delivered by secure video through Halaxy Telehealth, which runs in the browser with nothing to install. Video is provided by Amazon Chime hosted on AWS Sydney, with AES-256 encryption. Sessions are not recorded. Each session runs approximately 50 minutes (46 to 50 minutes).
Our psychologists
Both are Registered Psychologists with the Psychology Board of Australia through AHPRA, both are Directors, and both are undertaking a Board-approved registrar program and bill at the registered-psychologist rate.
- NDIS participants: both work with self-managed and plan-managed participants on capacity-building goals, and provide progress reports and plan-review letters with consent. See NDIS.
- Scope: a generalist scope by scheduled telehealth. Assessments are psychological, not psychiatric.

How sessions are funded
Medicare Better Access
Available with a GP referral and a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP. Up to 10 rebated sessions per calendar year. The session fee is $230. The Medicare rebate is $101.55 for a registered psychologist when the client has a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, leaving a typical out-of-pocket of $128.45. Sessions are not bulk-billed: the client pays the full fee and Medicare pays the rebate to the client.

Sending a referral
Send referrals and supporting documents by email to admin@thpa.au, or through Medical Objects. Please include the client’s contact details, the funding pathway, and any relevant background with the client’s consent. Please do not send patient details through the website enquiry form; use email or Medical Objects.
After a referral comes in
- We contact the client to arrange intake as soon as we can, usually within a couple of business days. There is currently no waitlist for new clients.
- You receive a review letter after session 6, in time for the plan review, and again at session 10 or at discharge.
- With the client’s consent, we keep you informed of relevant progress and any matters affecting the referral.
- If a client is assessed as outside the scope of safe telehealth care, we will advise you promptly and discuss appropriate alternatives.
Assessment, therapy and reporting
We provide assessment and evidence-based therapy. Modalities used include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) skills, schema therapy, eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), and supportive therapy. Where useful, we use validated outcome measures such as the K10, PHQ-9, GAD-7, and DASS-21 to inform and monitor care.
These approaches are supported by clinical practice guidelines, including those of the Australian Psychological Society and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (see NICE guidance NG222 on depression, CG113 on anxiety and NG116 on post-traumatic stress disorder). Individual experiences vary.
Reports and letters
With the client’s consent, we provide reports and letters to GPs, NDIS plan managers and support coordinators, and insurers. This includes Mental Health Treatment Plan review letters for GPs, progress summaries, and NDIS or WorkCover reporting as required.
Please tell us what you need and by when, and we will confirm what we can provide.
